World Book Day Week - Karen Noller
We had a fantastic start to World Book Week, made even more special by a visit from the wonderful author Karen Noller. She spent time with every class, bringing stories to life and sharing her passion for writing in such an engaging way. Each session was thoughtfully tailored, with different topics and focuses suited to the age and interests of the pupils. From exploring character creation to discussing the inspiration behind her books, every class gained something unique from the experience.
The pupils were fully engaged throughout the day, asking insightful questions and showing great enthusiasm for reading and writing. It was inspiring to see their excitement and creativity sparked by Karen’s visit.
A huge thank you to Karen for such an enjoyable and memorable day - what a brilliant way to begin our World Book Week celebrations!

My journey into writing began with my grandchildren, who inspired me to create magical stories that resonate with young hearts. My first book, "Jack's First Birthday Adventure," is just the beginning of my storytelling career. The second book, Bob the Badger's Prickly Problem came out in 2025 and in the last week (March 2026) my third book has become available. It carries on the story of the Fern Fairies, introduced in Bob the Badger's Prickly Problem and sees Queen Caitlyn and her friends get into a bit of a bind when their enemy, Malicio (the evil forest-pixie king) sets a trap for them. This last book also introduces Prince Henry to us. This character is based on my grandson Henry and he proudly took his book into school and dressed up as Prince Henry on World Book Day, he was very excited - and so was I.
Karen values connection with her readers and fans and this is an area which she is looking to develop as her author journey continues. Through her author website and presence on social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram, she will engage with her audience, sharing insights into her writing process and upcoming projects.

World Book Week 2026
Thursday, March 5th saw me visit St Michaels Primary School and Nursery and what a lovely morning I had.
An interactive assembly was quickly followed by a visit with St Michaels youngest pupils who were all dressed up as their favourite book characters. I then had the treat of working with Years 1 and 2 as they created new characters or even a fresh ending for my story Bob the Badger's Prickly Problem.
Here are some of those endings. I really enjoy seeing what the children can do with words that I created for my grandchildren. Thank you for my time at your school and for coming up with such original ideas.
Tuesday, March 3rd Great Easton Church of England (VA) Primary School
A lovely day visiting Great Easton, the school even moved World Book Day to accommodate my timetable. Beginning with an assembly with the younger children I read stories to them and shared my first book, Jack's First Birthday Adventure. Making up musical rhythms and moving like jungle animals was a great start to our day. Working with Years 3 -6 saw the children developing the plot of 3 different stories; one based on one of my books, one focused on a Greek tale (as this is what the children have been studying) and a completely new story beginning for Year 6 to build and expand upon. So much creativity in a wonderful school. Thank you Great Easton for sharing your ideas, your energy and enthusiasm.
Monday, March 2nd Tolleshunt D'Arcy St Nicholas C0fE Primary School
What a kick start to World Book Week. A return trip to Tolleshunt D'Arcy began with some fun activities with the Reception class and I then worked through the school, ending up with Year 6 in the afternoon. What a time we all had. Writing birthday invitations and party menus based on Jack's First Birthday Adventure, making up the setting for my next book in the Fern Fairy trilogy and developing the plot of a story.
Years 4/5 enjoyed making a character based on some shoes I had taken into school. Who would wear those shoes, what are they like, what do they enjoy? So many questions to be answered!
Here are some of the Year 3 settings for my next book, thank you Year 3.
Ford End Primary School 6th March 2025
Great fun had with Years 5 and 6 pupils developing a storyline in a creative and imaginative way on World Book Day 2025! Loved your questions about authors too - very thoughtful.
St Nicholas CofE Primary School Tolleshunt D'Arcy Wednesday March 5th 2025
Pupils at St Nicholas CofE Primary School came up with some creative solutions to develop the plot of a new story. Ideas flew around and were shared as the children learnt that developing a story isn't always neat but is always interesting. Well done everyone - I really enjoyed working with you and watching your imaginations come to life on the page.

Robert Drake Primary School March 3rd 2025
Today saw the start of my World Book Week, visiting 4 primary schools in the Essex area. Pupils In Robert Drake Primary School took part in the Jingle Jangle Island rap, changed the ending of my recently published book, Bob the Badger's Prickly Problem and developed the plot for a new idea. What a privilege to see writing develop from children in Reception to those in Year 6.
I had a lovely day and the enthusiasm of the children was catching. Feedback from the day was:
'We loved having you with us for the day and you did a grand job with 90 children (in each of 3 sessions)! Teachers said that many of the older children were asking if they could actually finish their stories. Unheard of!!!'
